Safe Travels, an image by PACC member Wright Schickli, was selected for inclusion in the town & country Exhibition of the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. Photographers were invited to submit work that ranged from images of a metropolis to farmland, village, city, hamlet, suburb, asphalt jungle, pastoral, rural, boondocks, urban, downtown, or backwoods. Michael Kirchoff, a Los Angeles based fine art, commercial, advertising, travel, and editorial photographer; and editor of Analog Forever Magazine, was the juror. The exhibition will run from May 24 through July 4; and the online reception will take place on June 29 at 3 pm CDT via YouTube. The exhibition is already online at https://asmithgallery.com/exhibitions/town-country/.
Wright says: I keep going back to Niles to photograph that small throwback-in-time city. The gas station is one of my favorite places because you never know what will be going on there. I love the juxtaposition of the “Safe Travels” sign painted on the wall with the martini glass in the window and the "Full Serve" on the wall underneath "Safe Travels", which I found particularly humorous once I cropped the word Service on the adjoining wall to “Vice”.
