Image by Allyson Ely Selected by NYC4PA

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 6/22/2024

Spectral, an image by PACC member Allyson Ely, was awarded Honorable Mention by the New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA), and will appear in its Portals web gallery and catalog.  In its call for entry, NYC4PA suggested that "portal" can be like a closed door, a wonderful windowsill, or the view through the portal to the other side.  Mark Sink, fine art photographer and cofounder of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, was the juror.  The exhibition may be seen online at https://www.nyc4pa.com/copy-of-got-the-shot-now.

Spectral is one of the images in Allyson’s series, The Enigma Variations.  She says:  I create images that are obscure, fantastical, and illusory: abstractions straddling two worlds, the real and imagined. I look for the power of the abstract to create a story.  Serendipity is my muse and reflections are my entry into this world.
