Images by PACC members Lenore Pereira and Chris Stevens-Yu have been selected to appear in the Onward Exhibition, a captivating journey by the local photography community in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Leica Store in San Francisco. The Leica Store invited photographers to reflect on and respond to the term “Onward” through their own photography, providing an opportunity to revisit, explore, and express their visions and emotions. Eighty-five images were selected from more than 250 entries. In addition to appearing on the Gallery website, the exhibition was presented digitally during the anniversary party on the Leica Cine 1 Projection System at the store. The exhibition opened on August 10.
Lenore’s image is Reflections, 2023, and she says: Photographing people as reflections is my way to take authentic portraits in social environments. Complexity portrays the intensity of city life and allows continuous discovery and interest. This text is not as poetic as most but contains the key element of coffee shop reflections. It was gratifying to see it projected on the screen during the opening of the exhibition.

Chris’ image is The Guardian. He says: Photographing the horses of the Camargue in the southwest of France had been a dream of mine ever since I was a student in the nearby city of Montpellier. Almost 30 years later, I got the chance to fulfill that dream. My favorite image overall was one in which a guardian, a caretaker of the horses, is framed by the blurred horses in motion.
