Images by Shubhie Panicker Included in PAL’s Memory Lane Exhibition

Two images by PACC member Shubhie Panicker were selected for inclusion in Pacific Art League’s Memory Lane Exhibition, an exhibition that explores the connection between memory and art.  PAL solicited work that captures the essence of a significant memory of the artist.  The juror was Sydney Tang, curator of the City of Pleasanton’s Firehouse Art Center.  The exhibition will run from September 6 through September 24; and the opening reception will take place on Friday, September 6, 5:30 to 8:00 PM.  Everyone is welcome to attend!

Shubhie says:

These images are part of a series I’m working on, Roots & Reflections, exploring memories and scenes from my childhood home in Jaipur, India – a digital collage of photographs taken on my visits over the years. The series draws on colors, geometric patterns, deep shadows, architectural details and regional motifs to weave a narrative. Each image has a companion writeup with a reflection.

Roots and Reflections evolved as I worked on a project for FYV (fyv.art) by Bailey Chinnery (https://www.baileychinnery.com).  The images are on display in ongoing FYV virtual exhibitions:

Rumination is a scene from my parents’ home – combining images from their living room with motifs from the house, designed by my father.

Reminiscence is a scene from a small museum called Albert Hall, a unique place that captures the ethos of the local culture and history of Jaipur.
