- CPA: PACC member Allyson Ely is Volunteer of the Month for September at the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel. Two images from her portfolio An Uncommon Beauty are being exhibited in the Gallery during the month of September.
The Center for Photographic Art (CPA) is the second oldest members’ photography gallery in the U.S. Its gallery was originally occupied by the Friends of Photography, established in 1967 by Ansel Adams, Cole Weston, and Wynn Bullock. CPA’s mission is to increase understanding and respect of photography and its evolving role in contemporary culture.
- BAPC: Allyson has been accepted as a member in the Bay Area Photographers Collective.
Allyson says: It’s an honor to be invited to join this impressive and lovely group of creative and skilled photographers, and I look forward to the challenge of developing work that meets the high standards of the organization. I want to acknowledge and thank Chris Stevens-Yu for his help and support during the application process.
The Bay Area Photographers Collective was formed in 1999 and is grounded in the belief that there is a need for an institution devoted to the development of a photographic community and its concerns. The Collective provides a home base for Bay Area photographers devoted to their art and sustains this community of photographic artists through support and constructive critique.
