Image by Steve Harris Selected by Praxis Gallery

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 12/29/2024

Day-Glo, an image by Steve Harris, was selected for inclusion in the Abstract Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis. Praxis sought photographic works that explore the world through an abstracted lens; utilizing elements of color, light, shadow, texture, shape, and line to express meaning outside of traditional representational and documentary styles of photography. The exhibition, curated by Praxis Directors, will run from January 18 through February 8; and the opening reception will take place on Saturday, January 18, 6 to 8 PM. The temporary gallery may be seen at: https://www.praxisphotocenter.org/temp-gallery-4-2ts3.

Steve says:  I made this image at a structure I call the “Google Gazebo,” near the entrance to the new Google Visitor Center. The structure is lined with dichroic glass, which can exhibit various colors depending on the lighting conditions. It is truly a gift for any photographer who likes to create abstract art, as I do. Here, some late afternoon sun added a warm glow to the image.
