Image by Wright Schickli Awarded Honorable Mention by The Chateau Gallery

Suspension, an image by PACC member Wright Schickli, was awarded Honorable Mention in The Abstract Imageexhibition by The Chateau Gallery. The Chateau invited artists to push the boundaries of photographic art by exploring alternative, experimental, or even accidental elements of the captured image that demonstrate photography’s ability to serve as a conduit for visual metaphor and personal expression. The exhibition highlights the transformative power of abstraction in photography and will run from January 1 through February 1.

Wright says:   I captured this image of an underground parking garage entrance in downtown Palo Alto last month using slight ICM and my black & white camera. I found the white objects (lights) intriguing, as it appeared they were suspended in the air (well . . . at least after I rotated the photograph so it was upside down).

Set in the heart of Historic Old Louisville Preservation District, The Chateau Gallery is a contemporary hybrid art gallery and studio with a narrative as captivating as the artwork housed within its walls.  The building’s unique Chateauesque Victorian architecture lends itself to the gallery’s name.  Throughout its many lives, this building has served as the estate of a tobacco baron, a funeral home, the Kentucky College of Barbering, an unlicensed child care center, a "drug dealer's palace," and a law office.
