Images by Phil Lewenthal Selected by the PH21 Gallery

Two images by Phil Lewenthal were selected for inclusion in the Silence Exhibition at the PH21 Gallery in Budapest. PH21 Gallery solicited images from photographers who are interested in sharing their experiences of silence with an international audience. The curators were Zsolt Bátori, a philosopher of art, photography theorist, and photographer; and Borbála Jász, a philosopher, and art and architecture historian. The exposition will run from January 11 through February 4. The images in the Silence Exhibition can be seen online at https://www.ph21gallery.com/silence-25.

Phil says:

Stealth is a photo from 2024 taken at Sea Ranch. This particular rock, at certain tide levels, reminds me of some kind of creature, maybe a crocodile, observing us, perhaps about to surface but taking its time.

Ghosts is from 2021 and I don't recall where I took it. The background rocks, washed by the ocean, have an air of something mysterious. The title, like all my titles, is just a suggestion, a jumping off point for a viewer's imagination.
