Images by Steve Harris, Bob Henderson, and Marcia Lepler were selected for inclusion in the Life of Color Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis. This international juried photography exhibition was curated by the Praxis Directors. Color photography is widely embraced for its ability to convey a broad range of information and emotional nuance. Praxis sought photographic art works that explore the implications of color as a central device in the creation of compelling images. The exhibition will run from March 16 through April 13; and the opening reception will take place on Sunday, March 16, from 6 to 8 pm. You can view these… colorful images in the temporary gallery at: https://www.praxisphotocenter.org/temp-gallery-4-2ts3.
Steve’s California Dreamin’ was awarded First Place in the Creative Category of PACC’s April 2024 Print Competition. He says: I made this image almost two years ago, following an online workshop I took that was devoted to the intentional camera movement (ICM) technique. I’d already started practicing it on my own, and the workshop definitely helped me improve my skills. I took this photo at Stanford Shopping Center, outside a display window at Neiman Marcus. It is part of a series of mannequins using ICM. This image seemed to have some iconic California elements, such as the palm tree and aqua blue sky, which inspired the title.

Bob’s image in the exhibition, As if in Stained Glass, was awarded Honorable Mention in the Creative Digital Category in PACC’s 2024 Annual Competition, and Second Place in the Portrait Category of the recent February Print Competition. He says: The colored pattern was projected onto the model, to whom I own a great deal, as it was her skills in posing that really made the image.

About California Poppies, Marcia says: I took this image during a hike with my husband in Ed Levin County Park, Milpitas. On the trail this particular spring day, the weather was chilly, but the view was beautiful – the diagonal lines of the fog in the distance, the tree "hugging" the hillside and the brightly-colored poppies. Ed Levin is known for fields of orange poppies in April & May, as well as grazing cows blocking trails and hang gliders whizzing overhead.
