Polychrome River, an image by Allan Colby, was selected for inclusion in the Abstract Category of Exhibizone’s Forms and Figures 2025 Exhibition. Artists worldwide were invited to participate in Exhibizone’s second annual Forms and Figures juried exhibition – all abstract and representational artworks in any 2D or 3D medium were welcomed. This online exhibition will take place from March 15 through May 15.
Allan says: Polychrome River is one of many abstract photos I’ve derived from incidental marks on sidewalks and pavement, with the hope of inspiring the viewer to find beauty in the most mundane. Weathering, concrete repairs, children's chalk marks, tire tracks and other random forms all can provide the genesis for enhancement in post-processing. This particular image started as a crack in a local sidewalk. My intent was to suggest parallels with an abstract painting, yet still retain hints of its pavement origin.
