Image by Steve Harris Selected by Louisville Art Association

Gilded Grove, an image by Steve Harris, has been selected for inclusion in the 2025 Louisville Art Association National Juried Photography Show. Toto, we’re not in Kentucky anymore! The show – in in Louisville, Colorado – runs from May 23 through June 1. The opening reception / awards ceremony took place on May 23. The call for entry solicited images in four categories:  people, animals & wildlife, nature-created, and human-made. The judge was Greg Holden, an aerospace engineer whose artistic escape from his day job is photography. The 100 images included in the show can be seen online at https://louisvilleartassociation.org/2025-nps-show/.


About Gilded Grove, Steve says: 
I made the image on the last day of a landscape photography workshop in Yosemite, in early November, 2024. The workshop was led by the outstanding photographers Bill Neill and Alex Noriega. I captured this image early Friday morning, in El Capitán Meadow, when the golden sunlight accentuated the yellow tones of the cottonwood leaves. In post-processing, I went somewhat high key, inspired by some of the beautiful autumn photos of cottonwoods in Bill’s own vast portfolio. I also wanted to emphasize the delicate nature of the trees; and, to my eye, the jumble of crisscrossed small branches does exactly that.

Louisville is a beautiful historic city on Colorado’s Front Range. The Louisville Center for the Arts is located in a Victorian, turn-of-the-century, red-brick schoolhouse, and offers participating artists the opportunity to display artwork in an elegant gallery setting.
