Images by Wright Schickli Selected by Praxis Gallery and Black Box Gallery

Awash, an image by Wright Schickli, was selected for inclusion in the Words, Words, Words Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis. Praxis sought photographic art that that includes written language as a fundamental aspect of the composition. The curator for the exhibition was Dallas Crow, an Atlanta-based teacher, writer, and photographer. The exhibition runs from October 18 through November 8; and the opening reception will place on Saturday, October 18. Wright says: This is an infrared photograph with my Leica M9 that was converted to shoot only dark infrared B&W photos. This is my zen spot near our cabin on Glen Alpine Creek, about 50 feet from our cabin kitchen door. Clouds rarely can be seen upstream, and I grab my camera whenever that happens.

Praxis Gallery and Photographic Arts Center is a community-based arts organization that aims to support the development of emerging photographic artists and is the only non-profit dedicated photographic arts center in Minnesota. Praxis provides photographic exhibitions and learning opportunities that inform, challenge, and engage the individual artist, and promotes artists’ work to local and international audiences.

Black Box Gallery’s Framed: Trees and Water group photo show features both subjects in a dynamic and diverse exhibition of contemporary photography. The juror was Todd Johnson, founder and director of the Black Box Gallery.Twenty-six images, including Wright’s Glen Alpine Creek, were selected for exhibition in the Gallery; and an additional fifty images were selected for the On-Line Annex Exhibition. The in-gallery exhibition will take place from October 1 through October 25. All images included in the show can be viewed at https://blackboxgallery.com/Framed-Trees and Water-2025-EP.html. The opening reception will take place on Occober 4 from 3 to 5 pm.

Black Box Gallery is dedicated to the exhibition of contemporary photography. Black Box’s juried international photo shows provide important opportunities for emerging and mid-career photographers. Black Box supports and encourages the creative production, exhibition, and critical appreciation of contemporary photography.
