Still Now, an image by Julia Hallee, was selected by the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, SC, for inclusion in its Contemporary Landscape Exhibition. The SE Center sought images that capture the landscape in all its forms, whether through grand vistas or more personal, intimate interpretations – work that makes a powerful statement, draws the viewer in, and inspires a desire to explore. Jeff Schewe, a Chicago-based advertising photographer and Photoshop guru’s guru, was the juror. The exhibition will be shown in SE Center’s virtual gallery and will run from November 1 through November 30. Images in the exhibition may be seen online at https://www.sec4p.com/contemporary-landscape-25-online-exhibition.
Julia says: My work is about breathing deeply and noticing the glimpses of wonder in a restless world. Still Now was captured on a crisp day just after a heavy snowstorm. The scene holds that quiet tension I love—the stark, bitter cold balanced by the deep stillness of winter. I used a converted infrared camera to highlight those contrasts.
