Images by Nadine Levin Selected by The Curated Fridge, Belvedere Tiburon Library, SE Center

Images by Nadine Levin were selected for placement on The Curated Fridge, in the Belvedere Tiburon Library Art Gallery, and at the Southeast Center for Photography.

(1) Only His Shadow Moved

Nadine’s image, Only His Shadow Moved, is in The Curated Fridge’s 2025 Autumn Show, which has an open theme. Jurors for the show were Jennifer McClure, a New York-based fine art photographer; and Emily Belz, a Boston-based independent photographer, educator, and curator. The show is already mounted on the fridge and on the oven door and may be seen at  https://www.thecuratedfridge.com/Fridge-Shows-1/Autumn-2025. The opening reception (snacks and booze, prints and photographers, neighbors and curators) will take place on Sunday, November 9, from 4 to 6 PM, and the show will be on the fridge until December 31.

Nadine shot the image in a London hotel room that provided the ability to change the color of lighting in the shower. It’s on the right-hand side of the front of the fridge.

The Curated Fridge is the brainchild of Yorgos Efthymiadis, an artist/curator from Greece who lives in Somerville.  He created the gallery in his kitchen in 2015. The Fridge calls for print entrées no larger than 5”x5” or 4”x6”, four times a year. Submissions are always free. The selected images are affixed to the front and one side of the refrigerator. The idea behind this project is to celebrate fine art photography and connect photographers from around the world. The Curated Fridge has grown into a renowned platform for lens-based artists.

(2) The Old Glass Remembers the Fallen Moon

The Old Glass Remembers the Fallen Moon
will be shown in the Belvedere Tiburon Library Art Gallery Exhibition, Art Pairings and Echoes. The objective of the exhibition is to animate the viewer’s experience by revealing connections between artworks – a contemporary work inspired by and in dialogue with a chosen muse. The exhibition will run from November 20 through January 7; and the opening reception will take place on Thursday, November 20, 6 to 8 PM.

The companion piece that inspired Nadine’s photograph is Hiroshige’s block print, Moon Pine, Ueno, No. 89, from his series, One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (https://www.brooklynmuseum.org/objects/121703). The jurors said, “We are grateful for your artwork highlighting a dialogue and pairing that shares your creative process. Our eight jurists especially enjoyed the process of considering your submission along with the companion artwork that influenced it.”

(3) Storm Brewing on the Horizon and Isolated

Storm Brewing on the Horizon and Isolated were selected for inclusion in the Members Show at the Southeast Center for Photography.  For this exhibition, anything goes – any photo-based imagery; analog or digital or antique; monochrome or color; any subject. The juror was Christopher Dent, Associate Professor of Photography in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of North Georgia. This online exhibition will run from December 1 through January 31.

Storm Brewing on the Horizon was shot with a Diana F+ film camera. Isolated is a diptych from Nadine’s in-progress series using self-portraits coupled with her abstracts.
