Diptych by Phil Lewenthal Selected for East Bay Photo Collective Members’ Show

Meanderings, a diptych by Phil Lewenthal, was selected for inclusion in the upcoming Members’ Show by the East Bay Photo Collective (EBPCO). The theme for the show is diptychs. John Park, an Oakland-based photographer and writer, was the juror. The exhibition will be on view from December 5 through January 26 at the Oakland Photo Workshop.

Phil says:  This photo combines a photo taken from a BART train and one of the seascapes that I've been taking for the last several years. The BART photo was also a long exposure image taken as the train moved through the complicated freeway overpasses in Oakland. I had no idea what it would look like when I took it but liked the abstract pattern that emerged. The seascape photo was taken at Sea Ranch on a day when the surf was very active. Whitewater created the fog-like atmosphere that I find irresistible. Diptychs are a completely new form for me. I thought that the shapes and contrasting shades might "speak" to each other. I was quite surprised and delighted that it was accepted for the exhibit.
