Image by Wright Schickli Selected by The Chateau Gallery

Decanted, an image by Wright Schickli, was selected for inclusion in The Beauty of Decay exhibition by The Chateau Gallery in Louisville. Beauty is subjective in the eye of the viewer. Societal conventions pressure us to conform to like-mindedness, yet the most ethereal craft often originates from divergent work that transgresses tradition. Chateau sought images that question or break away from established norms of beauty. The exhibition runs from February 1 through March 1. All images can be seen online at https://chateaugallery.com/exhibitions/the-beauty-in-decay-2026.

Wright says: This is another photo I captured in the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires last year. Parts of the cemetery are pristine and well-maintained, and others are in various states of decay. I found the cracked mausoleum in my photo very interesting, with what appeared to be an empty wine bottle in a wine bucket.

The Chateau Gallery (TCG) is an online photography gallery that was originally established in 2019 in an abandoned mansion within the Old Louisville Preservation District. The gallery operated as an underground art space until its foundry caused a structure fire, forcing its inevitable closure. TCG’s mission is to use its platform to transcend borders and broadcast multi-faceted viewpoints through artistic, ideological, and philosophical exchange.
