Image by Ryan Jacobs Selected by New Jersey Pinhole Club

Rehearsal, an image by Ryan Jacobs, was selected for inclusion in the Time and Space Exhibition by the New Jersey Pinhole ClubThe theme of the exhibition is pretty much anything goes, as long as it’s pinhole photography. Jurors were Kris Sebring , a Pennsylvania-based intuitive artist specializing in lensless photography; and Heather Palecek, an outdoor enthusiast and photographer specializing in portraits and celebrations. The exhibition, which will run from April 1 through May 30 at Unique Photo in Philadelphia, includes images by the 14 members of the NJ Pinhole Club (Member Exhibit) and 55 artists from around the world (Juried exhibition). The opening reception will take place on Saturday, April 11, from 1 to 4 PM. You can see all the images online at https://www.njpinholeclub.com/blog/time-and-space-2026. A YouTube slideshow of the exhibition is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ566SQCWa8. Ryan’s Rehearsal is just a little past the 15-minute mark.

Ryan says:  Rehearsal is a photo of the Terrible Adult Chamber Orchestra (TACO). Ken Salisbury of the PACC is a member, and he reached out when he heard I was looking for local musicians to photograph. I keep a pinhole camera in the arsenal partly because it creates images that are effectively in focus on every plane, which is great for a huge room like the T.A.C.O. rehearsal space. The long exposure makes for some added fun; this is about 1 minute of music captured all together.

Ryan Jacobs:  Rehearsal,

The NJ Pinhole Club was formed in December 2020 by Heather Palecek and is a community of artists based in New Jersey who embrace pinhole photography as their primary medium, whether as a passionate hobby or a professional pursuit. United by a shared love for this unique art form, they support and inspire one another through collaborative group exhibitions, informal gatherings, and ongoing creative exchange. If you want to know more about pinhole photography and  are going to be in NYC on April 19, you can attend a seminar by Heather at the B&H SuperStore (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/eventDetails.jsp/id/5077).
