A Measure of Uncertainty, an exhibition at the Center for Creativity in Redwood City by the Bay Area Photographers Collective (BAPC), includes images by Allyson Ely and Chris Stevens-Yu. The technologies of human imagination have led to incredible accomplishments while also creating existential threats to the natural world and the social contracts that hold us together. The exhibition, originally shown at the Harvey Milk Photo Center in San Francisco earlier this year, explores life amid “A Measure of Uncertainty” and runs from April 30 through June 28. Heather Snider, former Executive Director of SF Camerawork, was the curator.
Allyson’s image, Knife Gate, is from her Uncommon Beauty series, taken in a working cement silo in Northern California.

Chris’s images, Lost in Thought, Running on Empty, and Nobody There, are from his In Pieces series, which uses reflective surfaces drawn from moments where reality distorts into abstraction.

The Center for Creativity is a grassroots initiative that began in 2010 with ARTS RWC, a roundtable of artists, advocates, and civic leaders dedicated to building a vibrant arts community in Redwood City. In 2025, a proof-of-concept space opened at the historic Hotel Sequoia in downtown Redwood City, offering exhibitions, performances, and community programs.
