Images by Sue Borg and Wright Schickli were selected for inclusion in the Black and White Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis. Without color, the image is stripped to its essential elements. Light defines structure. Tone carries weight. Surface, texture, and gesture become primary. What remains is not absence, but focus. The exhibition was curated by Sandrine Hermand-Grisel, creator of the website All About Photo and curator of AAP Magazine. The exhibition runs from June 20 through July 11; and the opening reception will take place on Saturday, June 20. About Please, Sue says: My image was made in India. We were touring Sarnath, where Buddha made his first sermon, when this beggar's hand reached through a fence along the path. I was able to grab the shot as we walked the path.

And Wright says: Cloudless is a dark black and white infrared (850) photograph of a stand of about ten trees atop a hill in Foothills Park. I love how the infrared makes the trees look like clouds casting a weird shadow in the foreground.
