Two images by Wright Schickli were selected for inclusion in the Making Strange Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis. Curated by the Praxis directors, Making Strange presents photographs that transform the everyday through framing, timing, light, distance, or construction. Praxis sought work that renders the ordinary unfamiliar—where the iconic, the ironic, and the overlooked are constructed through deliberate acts of seeing.The exhibition runs from July 18 through August 8; and the opening reception will take place on Saturday, July 18. With respect to Shopping, Wright says: This is a photo of a shopping cart that I spotted in the CVS parking lot in midtown Palo Alto. It sat there for a long time and continually metamorphosed – the sun was coming in and made it look to me like E.T. re-entering earth and landing in a Safeway shopping cart.

As for Area 451, he says: This is a photo of a UNFO, an unidentified NOT flying object, that I spotted a while back in Niles… not sure it was OK for me to photograph it… but I know it's Out There! :)
