Wright Schickli’s images, Stairway and Factory, were two of the 34 images selected for inclusion in the perspective exhibition at the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. A Smith welcomed images reflecting the theme perspective – images ranging from point of view/camera placement, to opinion, to style, to commentary/documentary, to image collaging and post processing, all as ways to articulate a personal perspective visually. The juror was Debra Klomp Ching, art consultant, educator, and co-owner of Klompching Gallery in New York City. The exhibition will run from September 11 through October 15. The reception will take place at 3 pm CDT on September 26 and will be posted as a pre-recorded YouTube video in ASG Conversations and Gallery Talk (blog), https://asmithgallery.com/blog/. Wright says:
Stairway is a photograph I took at my son’s house of the stairway going down from the third to the second floor. I captured the image from above, looking down at the midpoint of the stairs. By flipping it horizontally and making it a vertical image, the steps appear to be ascending instead of descending.

Factory was photographed at the University of Arizona factory that produces lenses for the largest telescopes in the world. The process takes years and is extremely complex. Once again, I was looking straight down when I took this shot of a spiral staircase going down to the floor of the factory, which I found to be an interesting perspective, as if I were viewing machinery from the side that was resting on the factory floor. Factory was selected for inclusion in “the 27”, a limited-edition hardbound fine art book of twenty-seven images from the exhibition.
