Images by Wright Schickli and Jim Colton Selected by Praxis Gallery

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 10/9/2026

Images by Wright Schickli and Jim Colton were selected for inclusion in the Streets Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis. Praxis looks at public life through the unpredictable encounters, gestures and structures that give street photography its energy. Praxis Gallery solicited candid shots, as well as photographs shaped by public spaces, urban structures, architecture, and everyday observation, in black and white or color and through traditional or experimental approaches. The juror was Jonathan Pavlica, the Gallery and Installationist Director of Praxis. The exhibition will run from October 17 through November 14. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, October 17, from 6 PM to 8 PM. You can view the images in the temporary online gallery here:https://www.praxisphotocenter.org/temp-gallery-4.

About Footloose, Wright says: I captured this photograph a couple blocks from my house near Greer Park & Highway 101. I saw a man whittling from inside his RV, wood shavings coming out the door, and his feet sticking out. I liked the geometry of doors which really seem to make the feet stand out.

And about Friends, Jim says: I took this photograph in Mexico City in 2025. What caught my eye was how much more comfortable the people in Mexico are with touching each other than we are in the U.S. This is evident most everywhere in Mexico City. This is just one example.
