PACC Member Ken Fowkes has been awarded 1st place in the Abstract/Adult category of the 2020 Peninsula Photo Contest for his image, Pondside.
Ken says: Pondside was taken with a quick upward flick of a long lens. Camera motion has blended the plants growing at a pond’s edge with the light reflecting from its surface. Details are erased, inviting us to explore the scene through color, shape, and texture.
Ken is a two-time winner: The Shaman's Horse was awarded 1st place in the 2018 Abstract category. He also would like to remind members that PACC's longtime member, great friend, and passionate photographer Laurie Naiman won 1st place in that category last year for his image, Hitchcock's Fork, taken with his iPhone at a local outdoor cafe:

The Peninsula Photo Contest is an annual contest organized by the Palo Alto Art Center, the Palo Alto Weekly, and The Six Fifty. It is open to all individuals who live, work or attend school in any city within the 650 area code.
Winning photos and those selected for exhibition will be displayed at the Palo Alto Art Center from September 12 to November 15, 2020. A selection of winning photos will be published in the Palo Alto Weekly. Winning images may appear on Palo Alto Online and its social media accounts and on TheSixFifty.com, as well as the Palo Alto Art Center’s publications, website, social media and promotions.
A virtual award reception is being planned.
