PACC member Jim Colton was winner of the annual photo contest of the AARP Foundation. His winning image will be on the cover of the 2022 AARP Foundation calendar. The AARP Foundation’s calendar contest is open to all AARP members and always has a theme.
The theme of the 2022 contest, motivated by the limitations imposed by the pandemic, was Life's Small Treasures. When Jim and his wife visited Great Basin National Park in eastern Nevada, they were expecting only a basin. They also found beautiful mountains as high as 13,000 feet. The mountain scenery, punctuated by the leaves turning in late September, was Jim's Life's Small Treasure.
The mission of the AARP Foundation is to tackle senior poverty by helping vulnerable older adults build economic opportunity and social connectedness – fostering resilience, strengthening communities, and restoring hope.
