An image by PACC member Bob Henderson has been selected for inclusion in the exhibition After Dark at the Praxis Gallery and Photographic Arts Center in Minneapolis.
The exhibition features photographic works that explore the fundamental qualities that make night photography – from dusk to dawn – a compelling contemporary art form.
Spanning two centuries, the subject of the night has inspired an explosion of interest among contemporary artists. Natural vistas, celestial bodies, urban landscapes, factories, artificial structures, and nocturnal interludes represent but a few of the limitless subjects of nighttime photography.
Bob's image, The Night Shark, also known as Shark Fin Cove, is one of the images in his series of Milky Way photos. Bob scouted the location earlier in the year and used PhotoPills to find out when he could capture the Milky Way over the fin.
The exhibition will take place October 16 - 30. The online exhibition is not yet available.
This image was the first-place winner in the Natural Landscape category of the November 11, 2020 PACC Digital Competition. It was also one of the sample images in his PACC presentation, Photographing the Milky Way, this past August 4; it is available on the PACC website at:
