Nine
black & white images by PACC member Beatriz Martinez are included in the Photography / Digital portion of the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery August exhibition, Being Human – The Figurative Show. The Juror was artist and educator Diane Olivier.
Of the images included in this show, Beatriz’ favorites are Grotto and Cascada, which were taken in Oregon, where she often goes to connect with nature. She says: Both of them have something mysterious and magical at the same time. They portray my love for nature. While in contact with nature, I contemplate and interpret it in different ways. I admire nature; it is a ballet of movements where different elements play together, sometimes showing a symphony of rhythm and forms. Nature is impermanent and ephemeral. I try through my images to capture a little bit of the celebration of life, and I hope that viewers can get the same feeling.

SFWA was founded as the “Sketch Club” in 1887 and began as an independent group of women artists who met to share and critique one another’s work.
