Image by Wright Schickli Selected by the Southeast Center for Photography

Mash, an image by PACC member Wright Schickli, was selected by the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, SC, for inclusion in its Black, White, & Monochrome ‘23 exhibition.  The SE Center solicited all forms of monochrome imagery – black & white and toned photography – all subjects; analog, digital or antique processes; by photographers of all skill levels, ages, and locations.  Michael Foley, founder of The Photo Community and faculty member of the School of Visual Arts, was the juror.  The in-gallery exhibition will take place February 3 to 25.  The online exhibition of these wide-ranging images may be seen at https://www.sec4p.com/bwm-23-online-exhibition.

Wright says:  I captured this image on the Ohio River inside a WWII D-Day landing ship (LST 325).  The original 1954 Willy’s Jeep used in the movie Mash happened to be parked inside at the very back of the hold, where tanks were stowed for delivery to Omaha beach.  I almost missed the foot sticking out the rear of the Jeep, then wedged myself between the back bumper and the wall to snap this photo with my trusty B&W camera and 28mm lens.

Mash was awarded First Place in the Open Category of PACC’s recent October Digital Competition.
