Exit, an image by PACC member Wright Schickli, was selected for inclusion in the Portals: Windows, Mirrors and Doors exhibition at the PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont. The exhibition will take place January 26 through February 24.
The call for entry solicited images that use portals in intriguing ways, a portal being an architectural feature – a gate, a doorway, a window, a mirror, or a tunnel – that frames or isolates or adds a new dimension to the image; or in a fictional sense, a magical doorway that connects two locations in space or time. The juror was Laura Moya, director of Photolucida in Portland, Oregon.
Exit will appear in the Online Gallery. Wright explains: Exit is an image I observed around midnight of moonlight coming through our bathroom skylight. I just had to grab my camera to see if it could capture the light I saw. I balanced my camera on the towel rack because my tripod was in the car. It was a 30-second exposure at F3.5 with a 28mm lens and B&W-only camera. I did decide to snag my tripod, but it was too late as the clouds came. But I like the towel rack effect and the dimensionality I was trying to achieve.
