An image by PACC member Nadine Levin, In Praise of Shadows, is exhibited in the black/white online exhibition of the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. Ann Jastrab, executive director of the Center for Photographic Arts in Carmel, was the juror. Of 1042 images submitted for the exhibition, 55 were accepted. The exhibition runs from March 31 through May 11 and may be seen at https://asmithgallery.com/exhibitions/black-white-3/. The reception for this exhibition will take place on April 29 at 3 pm as a YouTube video.
Nadine says: I made this image while visiting the Hermitage Museum in 2019. My intention was to take a somewhat everyday object (nothing in the Hermitage really is an "everyday object") and elevate it using the temporal effect of the light coming through the screen on the window and hitting the chair.
In Praise of Shadows was selected for Gray Loft Gallery’s juried show in Oakland in December. It was also awarded First Place in the Special Category, Ordinary Things, in PACC’s November, 2019, Digital Competition, then titled If not for the Light and Shadow…
