PACC member Phil Lewenthal has been selected as one of 200 finalists in Critical Mass 2023, based on his portfolio of Sonoma Coast seascape images.
Critical Mass is an annual online program carried out by Photolucida that makes connections within the photography community. Any photographer may submit a portfolio of 10 images. The field is narrowed to a group of 200 finalists who go on to have their work viewed and voted on by over 150 esteemed international photography professionals. From the Finalist group, the TOP 50 are selected for inclusion in the Critical Mass Top 50 exhibition the following spring, as well as consideration for other awards. The exhibition for the TOP 50 2023 group will take place at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center from February 23 through April 13.
About his submission, Phil says: I signed up for a portfolio review with Ann Jastrab at the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel. To my great surprise, she suggested that I enter Photolucida, which I found very intimidating. But with the encouragement of a number of people, particularly Allyson Ely and Nadine Levin, I decided to give it a try. I was, as you can imagine, very surprised to learn that I was selected as a finalist. This amazing photo journey would never have happened without the PACC. I am incredibly grateful for the encouragement, support and fellowship that I've received from you all. And, I would never have joined without the encouragement of one Wright Schickli, who is now appropriately the membership chair!
Here is one of the images from his portfolio.
