Enigma Variation No. 2, an image by PACC member Allyson Ely, was selected by the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, SC, for inclusion in its in-gallery Members Exhibition ’23: Anything goes! The SE Center solicited any photo-based imagery – analog, digital, antique processes; monochrome, color; any subject. Maria L. Kelly, Assistant Curator of Photography at the High Museum of Art, was the juror. The exhibition runs from December 1 through January 27; and the opening reception will take place on December 1 from 6 to 8 pm.
Allyson says: Taken at Windover, on the Stanford campus, this image is from the project The Enigma Variations, and is part of the series that explores the transformative effect of light through reflections and layering. There is always an element of surprise when I see these images for the first time, and here it is the wispy apparitions floating in the foreground, and the illusion of a three-dimensional image.
