Fallen Branches, an image by PACC member Allyson Ely has been selected for inclusion in the Landscapes Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis.
In the Landscapes Exhibition, Praxis Gallery sought photographic artwork that explores a broad, interpretive, and personal investigation of the landscape: both as a place or an idea, as a literal expression or conceptual iteration. G.S. Broz, a Metaverse fine art photographer and NFT art book creator, was the juror. The exhibition will be on the walls January 20 through February 10. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, January 20, 6 to 8 PM. The images in the exhibition are currently located online at https://www.praxisphotocenter.org/temp-gallery-2-2ls3.
Allyson says: Several years ago, I discovered Mallard Lake, in Golden Gate Park. I go there often to walk, admire the colors in the Spring and Autumn, the reflections in the water, and to photograph. Often, there are branches floating in the water but these, seen after a storm, were different: white, almost glowing against the foliage behind, and striking in their intricate conformation. These branches are long gone, and the magic of this lake is disappearing slowly as algae dims reflections, overgrown brush and bamboo block views, and mallards are only occasional visitors. I continue to return, though, always hoping for a rebirth of this serene and pretty spot.
