Participation for this Field Trip is limited, as the US Park Service limits the number of tickets (you must purchase in advance from Park Service).  Email event organizer if you want to be added to the dinner reservation.


Background

One of the most photogenic lighthouses on the California Coast is the Point Bonita Lighthouse. Access to the lighthouse for sunset is highly restricted by the US Park Service, but you can be there for sunset on April 2.  The location of the lighthouse is unusual in that, from land you need to walk through a tunnel and be fairly close to the lighthouse before you can see it and its surroundings.  The Park Service normally limits access to 12:30pm to 3:30pm.

Photo Opportunities

Photo opportunities on this trip include:

- Golder hour and sunset of the Lighthouse' its bridge, its surroundings and interior.  The light of the lighthouse should also be in full use.
- Excellent Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Skyline views
- Pacific Coast, coastal trails and battery 
- Near the Restaurant, atypical Golden Gate bridge and San Francisco Skyline

Dinner & Social at Farley's 8:45pm to 10pm

Dinner is at Farley at 8:45pm.  The restaurant was chosen for being near the lighthouse, its exceptional senic and historic location (at Fort Baker).

More Complex Sign-up than Usual


To Signup for this field trip you need to do the following:

1- Register you and your guests for the field trip using the "Register Now" button in the right column.

2 - Email the event organizer, if you want to reserve dinner for you and your guests from 8:45pm to 10pm at Farley's (see info on Farley's below)

3 - On March 19 at 7:00am PDT the Park Service opens for online ticket purchases atPoint Bonita Lighthouse Sunset Tickets & Info .  A total of 32 tickets are sold to the public for the one night in April you can go to the Lighthouse.  Tickets cost $16.   If you have a Golden Age, Golden Access, Interagency Lifetime Senior, Interagency Access, or Interagency Annual Senior Pass, show Park Service the pass when you check in for the program, and you will be reimbursed 50% of the value for one ticket in your purchase after the program. You can cancel 24 hours prior to the event for a full refund except for a $1 transaction fee.
