Image by Phil Lewenthal Selected by the Southeast Center for Photography

Coastal Light, an image by PACC member Phil Lewenthal, was selected by the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, SC, for inclusion in its in-gallery All About the Light Exhibition:  The SE Center solicited the photographer’s best light – light and shadow have been the foundations of photography since the beginning; and together, they comprise the elements of a successful photograph.  The juror was Michael Pannier, SE Center’s founder and director.  The exhibition runs from June 7 through June 29; and the opening reception will take place on June 7, 6 to 8 pm.  You can check out these beautiful images at:

Phil says:  This photo was taken in October 2022 at Sea Ranch and is part of my (hopefully) interminable Sonoma coast series.  This photo was taken in the middle of the afternoon but I was particularly struck by the way the blue and white water created shadow and light around the offshore rocks.  Also, by some miracle the cormorants stayed relatively still for a 30 second exposure.
