A Quiet Moment, an image by PACC member Sue Borg, was selected for the Online Gallery of the Portals: Windows, Mirrors, and Doors Exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont. PhotoPlace solicited images that show portals as real or fictional features that frame or isolate or add dimension. The juror was Elizabeth Avedon, a photography book and exhibition designer, independent curator and writer; and faculty for the Photography / Video and Digital Photography departments at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Thirty-five images were selected for the in-house exhibition, and an additional 37 images were selected for the online-only gallery from the almost 2000 submissions.
The exhibition will take place January 3 through January 24. Sue says: This image was made at my daughter's home. I was in her dining room and she was in the adjoining kitchen when I saw her shadow on the door as she took a quiet moment to herself.
A Quiet Moment, then titled In or Out, was the First Place winner in the Special: Windows and Doors category of PACC’s January 2024 Digital Competition; Anthony Nex was the judge.
PhotoPlace Gallery, located in the oldest remaining residence in Middlebury, offers monthly juried exhibitions to photographers worldwide, each with a new topic and an internationally recognized juror. All images selected for the Exhibition Gallery will hang in the physical gallery for the duration of the exhibit; and those selected for the Online Gallery will be viewable in the gallery by continuous-loop projection. Images from both galleries remain permanently on the website, are reproduced in the exhibition catalog, and are promoted on social media.
