An image by PACC member Nadine Levin has been selected for inclusion in the Open Call 2021 online exhibition at the PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont.
The call for entries for this exhibit provided the opportunity to “share the photographs you love, as well as those images you’ve just never had a chance to show”. Sandrine Hermand-Grisel, whose most recent project is the website All About Photo, was the judge.
Nadine’s moving image, 2020: Trying to Stay Safe – Feeling Frayed and Losing Focus, reflects her emotions early this year: “The dried flower symbolizes vitality (in the dream world) and the netting represented my safety — the split in the netting, going out of focus and fraying at the ends conceptualized the vulnerability I was feeling 10 months into the pandemic”.
This image, entitled Protected but Fraying and Vulnerable, was the First Place winner in the Open category of the March 10, 2021, PACC digital competition. The judge was Victoria Heilweil.
The Online Gallery for Open Call 2021 is available at https://photoplacegallery.com/online-juried-shows/open-call-2021/gallery/online-gallery; and the images included in the Exhibition Gallery can be seen at https://photoplacegallery.com/online-juried-shows/open-call-2021/gallery/exhibition-gallery.
PhotoPlace Gallery offers monthly, juried photographic exhibitions to photographers worldwide, each with a new topic and internationally recognized juror. All juror selections are exhibited in either the physical gallery in Middlebury or permanently displayed on the website. In addition, all selected images are reproduced in the exhibition print catalog.
