An image by PACC member Chris Stevens-Yu, Perseverance, has been awarded 2nd place in the Digital Photo Magazine 2021 Street Scene Contest.
The gallery of winning images can be found at https://www.dpmag.com/photo-contests/street-scene/
Chris says: The Pandemic really ignited a passion in me for street photography. Wanting to document these times, I frequently went into San Francisco and would walk the City. This image was made along the Embarcadero Center’s walkway where I spotted an amazing “pocket of light” and placed my camera on the ground to wait for something to happen. This person came along, and the posture along with the mask screamed “perseverance!” to me, which is what 2020 was all about.
Chris thanks Romain Curutchet for suggesting that he submit this image to the contest.
Locally, Perseverance was First Place winner in the Monochrome category of PACC’s 2020 Annual Competition; and was First Place winner in the Open category and Digital Image of the Month in November 2020. In addition, this image was awarded Honorable Mention in the Amateur Street category of the 2020 Monochrome Photography Awards, an international Black & White photography contest for professional and amateur photographers.
