Image by Allyson Ely Selected by the Southeast Center for Photography

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 3/29/2023

Theatre of the Absurd, an image by PACC member Allyson Ely, was selected by the Southeast Center for Photography in Greenville, SC, for inclusion in its Architecture Exhibition.  The SE Center solicited all forms of architectural imagery: urban and rural, black and white, color, analog, digital, and antique processes by photographers of all skill levels, ages, and locations.  Michael Pannier, the Founder and Director of the Southeast Center, was the juror.  The in-gallery exhibition of the 40 selected photographs will take place May 5 to 27.  The online exhibition of these wide-ranging images is currently shown at: https://www.sec4p.com/arch-23-online-exhibition?mc_cid=eaf720de1e&mc_eid=eebbb43bd6.

Allyson says:  During the pandemic, I became fascinated by the layering of images that occurred when shooting through glass windows. The reflections from behind me, superimposedon the physical objects inside the space, often resulted in highly abstract photographs such as this. Titled Theater of the Absurd, this image reminds me of a theater stage.
