PACC member Beatriz Martinez and new member Olya Gary are two of the ten photographers whose images will be included in the Nature’s Stories Photography Exhibition at Art Bias in San Carlos.  From the tiny and abstract to the expansive and familiar, each photographer’s collection has a theme intertwined through its images.  The exhibition runs from August 6 through September 5.  The opening reception and artists’ talk for this exhibition will take place on Sunday, August 6, from 1 to 3 pm.  Everyone is welcome!  Recommended:  Click on the Eventbrite link below to let Art Bias know you’re coming.

Beatriz has four images in the exhibition.  She says:  I joined the Palo Alto Camera Club in November, 2021.  Allyson, who suggested that I join, said that it will be a great experience for me.  Through these almost 3 years, it has been not only just a great experience, but also a learning one.  I started to experiment with ICM after I joined, and this image, Eternos, came from several attempts.  I shot it in the Redwood Groves at the Foothills Preserve in Palo Alto.  Ever since I moved to the Bay Area, I've been amazed by the giant Redwoods, since we don't have them in Guatemala, where I was born.  When I see them and hug them, I get a peaceful feeling.  I hope this picture will transmit that peaceful feeling to the viewers as well.

Olya says:  I joined the Palo Alto Camera Club 2 weeks ago, but I have already made friends there!  Photography has been a lifelong journey for me—sometimes joyful, sometimes complicated.  I haven't photographed much for the last 2 years, and I'm now experimenting with more colors.  I'm also experimenting with larger (for me)  prints —I will have three 24x18" images in this exhibit.  I took this picture, Torres del Paine #1, while on a trip to Chilean Patagonia, in Torres del Paine National Park. This region experiences very strong torrential winds, moving the air masses so fast after quick drizzles throughout the day that constantly changing rainbows pop up in unexpected places. I  hope to learn a lot from PACC, and I'm grateful to finally become a member.
