Image by Phil Lewenthal Awarded First Place by Monochrome Awards

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 1/11/2024

Prehistory, an image by PACC member Phil Lewenthal, has been awarded First Place in the Amateur Landscapes category of the 2023 Monochrome Photography Awards.

Phil says:  I took this picture on a late afternoon in September at Sea Ranch.  I had been photographing a different spot when a heron landed on this rock and hung around, finding little morsels in the foliage.  Somehow he turned in the direction I hoped for and stayed still for half a second while a wave curled behind him.  One of those moments when time recedes.

Previously, Prehistory was awarded Second Place in the Fauna Category of PACC’s October 2023 print competition by juror Charles Anselmo.
